It is with profound sadness and acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Prof. Walter O. Oyugi formerly of University of Nairobi. Prof. was called to rest on Friday, 28th August 2026 in Siaya.
He was the cherished husband of Mrs. Symphorose Ouma formerly of KCB and Aga Khan University.
Devoted father of Michael Ochieng, Paul Omondi, Salome Oyugi, Loise Oyugi and Brian Oyugi.
Prof was father-in-law of Caroline Agola, Justice Jane Onyango, Jane Otin, Venessa Odour, Rose, Elizabeth, RoseBosco, Roselyne, Clarice and Jacinta, and many others.
Prof was grandfather to Pauline Joy, Jelani, Helen, Jeremy, Dr. Jimmy Ochieng, Frank, Roy, Loise, Justo Oyalo, Maurine, Ken, among others.
Prayers & Memorial Meetings are being held daily at Holy Family Basilica in Nairobi and at his home in Nyadhi, Siaya.
Final Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s University Chapel on 15th September 2026 from 10:00 a.m. followed by candle lighting Tribute at the same venue. This will be preceded by a main Fundraiser on the evening of 10th September at the Holy Family Cathedral.
Burial ceremony shall take place on Saturday, 19th September 2026 from 9:00 a.m. in Nyadhi Village, Central Alego, Siaya County.
