It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Mama Phoebe O. Okumu (Minda), who passed away at Wilson Airport Hospital, Nairobi.
Mama Phoebe was the first-born daughter of the late Eliazaro Okwach and the late Yunia Odiembo of Sakwa Kamnara.
Beloved wife of the late Julius Arianda Okumu and co-wife of Seline Okumu.
Dear sister of the late Dorina Oyamo, late Dora Atieno, Dickson Opar, Christopher Okwach, late David Okwach, and the late Stephen Odour.
Sister-in-law of Pamela, Rosemary, Mary, the late Clarice, Marceline, Siprose and Wilson Abonyo.
Mama Phoebe was a loving mother of Jenipher, Ndessy, Sammy Okumu, Beth Cathy Arianda, Tom Manyala Okumu, Leah Ambeto, Tom Ochieng, the late Andrew Nginja (Gushy), Joseph Audi, and the late Caroline Aniyango.
She was also a devoted step-mother of Miriam, Joram O., Paulina, Zacharia, the late Abeth and Francis.
Loving mother-in-law of Joash Ndessy, Jacinta Oiko, Juliana Katheu, Judith Akoth, Nerea Ochieng, the late Tonny Grammatica, John Onyango, Jackie Wera, and Pamela.
Mama Phoebe was a cherished grandmother to 32 grandchildren, a great-grandmother to 15.
Aunty of the Abonyo’s, Nginja’s, Anam’s, Steve & among others.
Daily family meetings are being held at her homes in Moi Estate, Langata, Nairobi and Nyamonye Village, Yimbo.
A fundraising meeting will be held on: Thursday, 13th & Tuesday, 18th August 2026, 5:00 p.m. at All Saints’ Cathedral, Nairobi.
Funeral Services:
Thursday, 20th August 2026, 3:00 p.m. — St. Barnabas ACK Otiende, Nairobi
Friday, 21st August 2026, 3:00 p.m. — St. Paul’s Parish ACK, Nyamonye
Burial will take place on: Saturday, 22nd August 2026 at her home in Yimbo, Nyamonye, Kuoyo Village.
