It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mama Mwalimu Ruth Katile Kivuva Kitaka, who passed away on 2nd September 2026.

Mama Mwalimu Ruth Katile Kivuva Kitaka was born to the late Philip Mutia and the late Esther Mutio.

She was the beloved wife of the late Samuel Kivuva Kitaka and co-wife of the late Margaret Khabere.

Loving mother of Margaret Kivuva, Prof. Nzula Kitaka, Kaunda Kivuva, Richard Kivuva, Henry Kitaka (Mtogo), Gloria Mwikali, Martin Kyalo Kivuva, and Philip Makau.

Loving stepmother of Millicent Khanali, Narris Kivuva, and Yvonne Mbeke.

Sister of the late Phylis Mukami, the late Mary Kiamba, the late Stephen Nzomo, the late Joseph Kioko, Blench Loko, the late Tony Mutua, David Muoki, the late Agnes Mwikali, the late Mike Mue, the late Frank Wambua.

Grandmother to Joan Katile, Jean Mwikali, Solomon Kitaka, Benson Kaunda, Solomon Kaunda, Ian Kitaka, Reen Katile, Ty Ivory Meadon Kitaka, Trevor Kivuva, Trent Muthoka, Debra Nduku, Jean Syokau, Oliver Muasya, Karen, and Kavesu.

Great-grandmother to Nzula Emersyn Kitaka and Bokeh Amelia Kitaka.

Family and friends are meeting daily at her home in Kinyui. She will be laid to rest on Friday, 11th September 2026, at her home in Kinyui Village, Matungulu Sub-County, Machakos County.
