It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lucy Waceke Mungai (Cucu wa Kahindi) of Kanyanjara, Muguga Jet Scheme, who passed away on 30 June 2026.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Kahindi wa Gatuura and Wambui Kahindi (Nyakeru). She was the loving wife of the late Mungai wa Mucugia.
She was sister of the late Wangonyo wa Mirugi, Nyaiguku Karanja, Waruguru wa Gakio, Wanjiru Kahindi, Ndeki Ngumo, Nduta wa Kariuki, and Gatuura Kahindi.
She was also step-sister of Kiuru Mworia, Njoki Karume, Waruguru Ngugi, Wanjiku Kigotho, Wanjiru Wacira, Wamuhu wa Munene, and Michael Mbugua (Gatuura).
She was the loving mother of James Njuguna (Kahindi) and the late Peter Mucugia wa Mungai (Wa-Waceke). She was mother-in-law of Wambui Kahindi and Njeri Mucugia, and the late Muthoni Kahindi.
She was the cherished grandmother of Mungai Mucugia, Njire, Kahindi Mwara, Ndungu, Nganga, Gitau, Mbugua, Rahabu, and the late Thunguci. She was also a grandmother of Mungai Kahindi, Ndungu, Mucugia, Waceke, Mathea, Wanjiru, Wanjiru, Nduta, Lucy, Thunguci and Mungai.
Prayers and funeral arrangements are being held daily at her home.
Her body is lying at PCEA Thogoto Kikuyu Funeral Home.
The funeral service will take place at PCEA Kanyanjara Wednesday, 8 July 2026, and thereafter burial will be at her home in Kanyanjara.
