It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Dr. Olivia Achieng’ Opere, of the Department of Educational Foundations, Kenyatta University, on 18th March 2026 at Avenue Hospital, after a short illness.
She served as Chair of the Board of Management at Jamhuri High School and Luak Girls High School, was a member of WERK (Women Educational Researchers of Kenya), and was an education leader who sat on the boards of many other institutions.
She was the beloved mother of Laurette Omulo, Tessie Omulo, and Shadrack Onyango; daughter of the late Mr. Eli Opere and Mrs.Tabitha Opere; sister of Millicent Odhiambo, Grace Kapere, and Kenneth Opere; and a cherished aunt and cousin to many.
The main fundraiser will be held at All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi ,Thursday, 16th April 2026 at 5:00 PM .
The funeral service will take place at Maxwell SDA Church on Wednesday, 22nd April 2026 at 2:30 PM and the burial will take place on Friday, 24th April 2026, at Pala, Ndhiwa Constituency, Homabay County.
