It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Peter Maina Wangara, who rested on the 26th of June 2026. He was born on 6th June 1966 to the late Stephen Wangara Wambugu and the late Beatrice Njambi Wangara.
He was the seventh-born in a family of nine siblings: the late Joe Wambugu, Agnes Ngingo, Anthony Njuguna, Josephine Kombo, Hellen Wangara, Margaret Wangara, Grace Wangara, and Mwaura Wangara. He was a recently retired accountant in the metrology division of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
He was married to Eileen Wali, and together they were blessed with three children: Lilian Ng’andu, Stephen Wangara, and Julie Njambi.
He was father-in-law of Sandra Wangara; proud grandfather of Qiyana Akello and Sekai Maina; and brother-in-law of Ngingo, Kombo, Esther, Loice, Meshack, Elizabeth, Charles, Pauline, Zenge, Vincent, and Betty. He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, relatives, friends, and former colleagues who will fondly remember him.
A fundraising meeting in support of the family will be held at International Christian Centre (ICC), Nairobi, on Wednesday, 1st July 2026, from 6:00 p.m. Family, friends, and well-wishers are warmly invited.
The funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Visitation Catholic Church, Nairobi, on Friday, 3rd July 2026, after which he will be laid to rest at Lang’ata Cemetery.
