We announce the untimely demise of Mwalimu Philip Kimutai Tanui that occurred on 8/10/2026 at Eldoret Hospital.
Son of the late Kiptanui Cheboi Chepkilot and the late Catherine Shakwei Tanui and Mary Saniego Tanui of Kileges Plateau.
Loving husband of Betty Tanui (Telkom-Eldoret). Father of Caro (USA), Mercy (Australia), Yvonnah (NRB), Kenneth (Australia), Allan (Australia) and Abbyline (USA).
Brother of Christine (Komtueni), Esther (Kapavat), Magrina (Outspan), Josphine (Mosop), Savina (Chepsomok), Paul (Kileges), Simon (Hoi Kileges), Benard (Hoi Chemeluk), John (Commissioner Uasin Gishu County), Barnabas (Australia), Gilbert (Uasin Gishu County), Josphat (Australia).
He was son-in-law of the late Francis Rutto Roitch and the late Elisen Roich of Cheptulon (Kapfransis). He was father-in-law of Nick (Australia) and Ken (CBK). Grandfather of Zuri, Tai, Sijuna, Steele, Chebosh and many others.
Fundraising will be held on 14/10/2026 at Wagon Hotel, Eldoret at 3pm and on 15/10/2026 at his home – Kileges Plateau starting from 2pm. Family and friends are meeting daily at Jamboni Annex and Kileges Plateau.
The body will be removed from Eldoret Hospital on 16/10/2026 at 10am. He will be laid to rest on 17/10/2026 at his matrimonial home in Kileges (Plateau).
