The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner announces the untimely passing of Mr. Francis Kang’ethe Mbugua, Data Protection Officer II – Training. Francis tragically passed away following a fatal road accident.
Born in Ndeiya in 1994 to Peter Mbugua Gichuhi and Jecinta Njeri.
Brother of Paul Gichuhi Mbugua (Assistant Chief Kagoiyo), David Wanyoike Mbugua, Andrew Kihuyu Mbugua, Hannah Wanjiro Mbugua (Teacher), Grace Wairimu Mbugua (Nurse) and Mary Wamaitha Mbugua.
Husband of Fiona Wambui and beloved father of Elena Njeri Kangethe.
Francis will be remembered for his dedication to duty, professionalism, commitment, and the valuable contribution he made to the work and mandate of the Office. His untimely departure is a great loss to the Office and to all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.
On behalf of the Office, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, relatives, friends, and colleagues during this profoundly difficult time. We stand with the bereaved family in grief and pray that they may find strength, comfort, and courage as they come to terms with this painful loss.
The cortege leaves Tigoni Level 4 District Hospital on 19th August 2026 at 9:00 a.m. and thereafter burial and funeral service will be at Ndeiya, Limuru.
