The Kenyan community in California is grieving the loss of Lydiah Wanjiku Macharia, a beloved member of the diaspora whose kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others touched many lives.

Family members announced that Lydiah passed away after battling serious health complications for the past two years. Throughout her illness, she was lovingly cared for by her sister, Peninah Macharia, who remained by her side as her primary caregiver.

Although her health prevented her from actively participating in community events in recent years, those who knew Lydiah remember her as a compassionate woman who was always ready to support others in times of need. Friends say her warmth, humility, and caring spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Family Appeals for Help with Repatriation

Following her passing, the family has begun making arrangements to transport Lydiah’s remains from California to Kenya for burial.

However, the cost of international repatriation has created a significant financial challenge.

The family is now appealing to friends, relatives, members of the Kenyan diaspora, churches, and well-wishers to assist in raising the funds needed to give Lydiah a dignified final journey home.

Peninah Macharia has thanked everyone who has continued to offer prayers, words of encouragement, and messages of condolence during this difficult time.
