It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Kariuki Muraya, which occurred on Tuesday, 28th April 2026, while undergoing treatment for cancer at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, USA.
He was the beloved son of the late Gideon Muraya Thuo and the late Florence Njeri Thuo.
He was a loving father of Njeri Chelagat Muraya, Chebet Judy Muraya, Shiro Stella Muraya, and Pearl Njeri.
He was also a devoted father of his adopted daughters, Abigail Wambui and Joy Njeri.
He was a cherished grandfather of Micah, Keziah, Kahlil, Deuce, Amani, and Gianna.
He was a brother of the late Mary Nyambura Kanyi, David Thuo Muraya, Kate Wambui Muraya, Peter Kiarie Muraya, Jane-Anne Shiro Munyao, Sam Muraya, and Elizabeth Wanjiku Kahuria.
He was a brother-in-law of the late Kanyi Charagu, Trophie Muraya, Sue Wacheke Muraya, Alex K Munyao, Anne Muraya, and Joe Kahuria.
He was an uncle to many.
He will be dearly missed by his family, relatives, and friends.
Plans are underway to bring him home to Kenya for burial at Kahaini, Kandara. The funeral date will be announced in due course.
Family and friends meetings will be held at All Saints Cathedral on Thursday, 7th May 2026 from 5:00 PM.
