It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Joel Thigaa M’Muriati that occurred on 23rd June 2026.
He was born in 1924 in Tiira Village, Mukuuni Sub-location, Mukuuni Location. He was the son of the late Keenya M’Muriati and the late Cianjoka.
He was brother of the late Esther Umengo, Nyaga Keenya, Alicet Kabubu, Harriete Nceege, and Murango Kariungi.
Husband of the late Magrette Kiringo and Maryjane Ciankui. Father of Jotham Mutegi, Lucy Muthoni, Morris Thigaa (Principal Ikku Boys), Karimi Mburia, Dorothy Kanyua (Chuka), Alfred Murithi (Min. of Lands, Meru), Liz Gataka (Buruiburu Girls), the late Maruta, Kamau, Josyline Njeri and Mugambi.
He was the father-in-law of Lucy Mutegi, Mathew Mbaka, Mburia, Micheini Igane, Kellen Kanyua, Jameson Kimotho, Dorritah Wanja, and Patrick Kimanthi.
Mzee Thigaa was the grandfather of Gakii, Mumbi, Mawira, Don, Mwenda, Mawira, Mugendi, Fridah, Mutiwiri, the late Gatwiri, Kevin, Stella, Vivian, Stewart, Muthomi, Sharon, Levin, Baraka, Rooney, Shawn, Dylan, Sharleen, Robbie, Ryan and Rowen.
Prayer meetings are being held daily from 5:00pm at Legacy Hotel Chuka town and at his home place at Kirindi Mutaaruni village, Karamani sub-location Mukuuni location Tharaka Nithi County.
The cortege leaves Consolata Hospital Mortuary-Kyeni on Saturday 4th July, 2026 at 9.30 a.m. for the funeral service at Karamani Pry School grounds and burial thereafter at his home, Mutaaruni village.
