We are deeply saddened, yet accept God’s will, as we announce the passing on of Hon. Amb. Papa Burudi Nabwera on Thursday 8th October 2026 at his home in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, after battling multiple health problems with a lot of grace, immense courage and strength.

He was the loving husband of the late Tabitha Nasipwondi Nabwera (Tumwa), devoted father of Joseph Wapata Nabwera, Julie Lusike Nabwera, Jimmy Wapangana Nabwera, Lilian Namusonge Nabwera, Helen Muenje Nabwera (KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme).

Son of the late Kuka Nabwera Wasike and the late Koko Lusike Nabwera.

Loving son-in-law of the late Brigadier Peter Tumwa and late Mama Esther Nasipwondi Tumwa.

Beloved brother of the late John Taracha, the late Henry Sibitari, the late Peter Nasong’o, the late Wanjaia Nabwera, the late Christopher Mukoyani, Mzee Reuben Matanda, Mzee Makokha Nabwera, the late Muchelasia Nabwera, the late Francis Khaemba, Namalwa Nabwera and many others.

Brother in-law of Leah Kilonzo, the late Eva Kavila, the late Zephaniah Lusweti, the late Francis Tumwa, Phoebe Oliwa, late Caroline Akol, Margaret Tumwa, the late John Tumwa, Mildred Tumwa, Dinah Taracha, Janet Sibitari, Salome and Dinah Nasong’o, Julia Matanda, and Pauline Nanjowe.

Father in-law of Eunice Nabwera (Wamalwa) and Tigwende Serge Soubeiga.

Funeral arrangements:

• Burial and related arrangements are happening daily at his Kileleshwa home, off Suguta Road, Nairobi County from 5pm and Sango Farm, Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County.
• The fundraising is via paybill: 247247; Account number: 1450187865124.
• A requiem service will be held at the Friends Church, Lang’ata, opposite Lang’ata Boys High School on Wednesday 21st October 2026.
• There will be another requiem service at Friends Church in Kiminini on Friday 23rd October 2026 followed by burial on Saturday 24th October 2026 at his home, Sango Farm, Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County.
