Celebration of the Life of a Patriarch

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing on of Mwalimu Josphat Simon Karinga Njagi on 8th July 2026. Son of the late Mzee Simon Njagi Manja and the late Maramu Kagondu Njagi.
Loving husband of Mrs Mary Njoki Karinga. Doting father of Dr. Jane Wangu Njuguna (Director General /CEO Kenya Forestry Research Institute), Mrs. Margaret Muthoni Ndwiga (Retired Head Teacher), Dr Tabitha Mwaniki (Principal Gateiro Girls High School), William Njagi Karinga (Wilson Airport), Lilian Karinga Kinuthia (Principal Children’s Officer) and Jemima Karinga Munene (Financial – Advisor Britam).
Brother of Stanley Karithi Njagi, Elijah Kariki Njagi, late Daniel Mithamo Njagi, Julius Kibuchi Njagi, James Karung’a Njagi and Gerald Karuga Njagi (Agricultural Development Corporation). Brother-in-law of the late Simon Mwal Gitimu, Gerald Mugo Gatimu and the late Jamleck Mwangi Gatimu.
Father-in-love of the late Dr. Joseph Njuguna Makumi, Benson Ndwiga Kathuri, Dr. Wilson Mwaniki Mwangi, Josephine Kananu Njagi, John Kinuthia Wanjogu, and Peter Munene Kimotho.
Doting grandfather of Angela, Ian, Phil, Michael, Emmah, Keith, Naomi, Samuel, David, Prudent, Jewel, Victor, Joy, Nathan and Jesse and adorable great grandfather of Annalia, Jason and Wise.
Family and friends are meeting daily at his home in Kirinyaga 4:00 p.m and at his children’s homes in Kahawa Sukari, Syokimau, Thindigua, Ngolingwa, Kahawa Sukari B and Eastern Bypass on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th July at 6:00 p.m.
The cortege leaves Mt. Kenya Hospital Mortuary, Kerugoya on Thursday 16th July 2026 at 8:00 a.m. for funeral service and burial at his home at Ngarange Village, Gachigi Sub-Location, Gichugu West, Kirinyaga East, Kirinyaga County.
