It is with profound sadness that we announce the promotion to glory of our beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, Professor Jacob Ogweno Midiwo of Maseno University who passed away on Monday, 8 th June, 2026.
He was a devoted husband of the late Dr. Janet Midiwo, beloved son of the late Samson Midiwo and the late Margaret Waringa Midiwo, son in law of the late Noah Robert Juma and the late Phelesiah Odembo Juma.
Loving father of Bruce Waringa Midiwo and Gary Nyadundo Midiwo.
Father in Law of Njeri Gathara Midiwo, who is the daughter of James Gathara Ngari and Catherine Muthoni Gathara. Prof. Midiwo was a proud grandfather of Enzo Ogweno Midiwo.
He was brother of the late Festus Odima, the late Julia Adhiambo Owino, the late Jennifer Akinyi Matara, Dr. George Jalang’o, Aoko Midiwo- Odembo, the late Hon. Jakoyo Midiwo and the late Pamela Akoth Midiwo Osoro.
He was cousin of Senator Dr. Oburu Oginga, the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, Dr. Wenwa Odinga, the late Beryl Odinga, Hon. Ruth Odinga and nephew of the late Wilson Ating’a Odima, Justus Ating’a, Job Ating’a.
Brother-in-law of the late Alice Ogada, George Juma, the late Tom Juma, Robert Juma, Eunice Juma, Edgar Juma, John Juma, Jey India Okanda, Steve Juma, Dr. Bernard Juma, the late Mary Juma, Eng. Okwero, Amb. Elkana Odembo, Betty Mganda, Dr. Rose Olayo, Major Matara, Kim Jalang’o and Allan Osoro.
A Requiem Service will be held at A.C.K. St. Francis Church, Karen, Nairobi, on Wednesday, 17th June 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
Prof. Midiwo shall be laid to rest on 20 th June, 2026 at his home in Mabinju Village, South Gem Ward Constituency.
