It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Mr.David Ochieng’ Omondi Oti (Kitamo), which occurred on Monday, 25th May 2026, at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Eldoret, following a short illness.
David was the beloved son of the late Joseph Omondi and the late Margaret Atieno. He was the loving husband of the late Hellen Nakhone and Irene Nalianya, devoted father of Derrick Odhore Ochieng’ (Nation Media Group), Francisca Atieno Ochieng’ (Mediterranean Shipping Company), Apollo Omondi Ochieng’, Gloria Osimbo Ochieng’, and Joseph Omondi Ochieng’, and cherished grandfather of Amy Heilyn Atieno and Savannah Heilyn Atieno.
He was a dear brother of Judith Rosa, the late Lilian Osimbo, Stephen Kiliopa, Eunice Atieno, Joshua Omondi, Beldinah Adhiambo, Erick Omondi, Pauline Omondi, Esther Achieng’, and Sarah Pesa.
He was brother-in-law of Roselyn Barasa, Samuel Barasa, Esther Barasa Shilaho, Japheth Barasa, Joel Barasa, Jane Barasa, Kevin Barasa, Dan Luchu, the late Winfred Nalianya, Harriet Nalianya, Proscovia Nalianya, Scolastica Nalianya, the late Martin Nalianya, Fr. Anthony Nalianya, Martha Nalianya, and Catherine Nalianya. He was also an uncle, cousin, colleague, mentor, and friend to many.
Family, friends, and relatives are meeting daily at his home from 5.00 p.m. for funeral and burial preparations.
The cortege will leave Kiminini Cottage Mission Funeral Home on Tuesday, 9th June 2026.
The funeral service will be held the following day starting at 9.00 a.m., followed by burial at his home in Bidii, Kwanza Sub-County, Trans Nzoia County.
A fundraising Harambee in support of the funeral and burial arrangements will be held on Sunday, 7th June 2026, at Kitamo Hardware, Matisi. Family, friends, neighbours, business associates, and well-wishers are warmly invited to attend and support the family during this difficult time.
