It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Senior Superintendent AP (Rtd) Matiko Kemaroa, former Deputy Commander of the Nyanza Region, who passed away on 20th May 2026 after suffering a second stroke.
He was the beloved son of the late Kemaroa Sinda and the late Gati Kemaroa.
He was a loving father of Sinda Matiko (Nation Media Group), Sophia Wangui (Ministry of Health), Martha Robi Matiko (USA), Mercy Matiko, the late Daniel Mwangi Matiko, the late Rachel Gati Matiko, and Isaac Kemaroa Matiko.
He was also a cherished grandfather to Jayden Sinda, Sasha Omondi, and Liam Kemaroa.
He was a brother of the late Sinda Kemaroa, Peter Matiko, Muniko Kemaroa, Matinde Kemaroa, Josephat Matiko (ASP), Sinda Maroa, Maroa James (Ministry of Education), and Machuki Isaac (TSC).
Family and friends are meeting daily at his ancestral home in Komotobo Village, Kuria East, from morning until evening.
The cortege leaves Akidiva Memorial Hospital, Mabera, on 2nd June 2026, ahead of his burial on 3rd June 2026 at his home in Komotobo Village.
