It is with deep sorrow and acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Phoebe Wanjiku Gathii. Phoebe hailed from Ihururu, Tetu, Nyeri County.
She was the daughter of the late Ibrahim Mbora and the late Ruth Wairimu.
She was the wife of the late Cyrus Gathii.
She was the mother of the late Jane Wangari, Lucy Wanjiru, Ann Wangechi, Leah Wamucii, Loise Wanjugu, Charles Ndung’u, Isaac Mbora, Virginia Nyawira, and Sophia Wanjira.
She was the sister of Githinji, Njana, and the late Wangechi, Bundi, Wambugu, and Nyawira.
She was a grandmother and great-grandmother to many.
Family and friends are meeting daily at her home in Ihururu, Nyeri, for prayers and funeral arrangements from 4:00 p.m.
The cortege will leave Mathari Mission Hospital Mortuary, Nyeri, on Saturday, 12th September 2026, at 8:00 a.m. for a funeral service and burial at her home in Ihururu, Nyeri, from 10:00 a.m.
