It is with deep sorrow and profound grief that we announce the sudden death of Samwel Ochieng’ Ohayo, on Friday, 3rd October, 2025 in Nairobi.
Sam was the beloved Son of the Late Councillor Gordon Ohayo Obwanga and the late Juliana Osino Ohayo of Usenge, West Yimbo, Bondo Sub-county in Siaya County.
He was a loving brother of Sophia and Prof. Fred Onyango, Mary and the late Richard Okello, Jim and Lillian Ohayo, Dr. Grace and Micah Mitoko, Florence and the late Joe Hall, the late John Dixon Owuor, the late Celestine and Job Odoi, the late Hellen and the late Francis Ang’ute, Doreen and Francis Ohayo and, Ronald and Liz Ohayo.
Sam was a cherished Uncle of Robert, David and Maureen Onyango; Pamela, Everlyn, Akinyi, Grace, Dottie and Ken Okello; Vicky and the late Adhiambo Ohayo; Micah, Dr. Christine and Dr. Tryphosa Mitoko; Paula and Olivia Odhiambo; Mary, Brenda and Brian Odoi; Gordon Sr, Gordon Jr. and Juliana.
Additionally, he was Uncle of Doreen, Chris and Tina Obwanga, Otieno Abunge, Fred Kabunge Dismas Yuka, Thomas Odoyo among others.
He was a Nephew of Dixon Yuka, Cloy Rapuri, Alfreda Ochwadi, Joseph Oloo ( Alego), Kileon Opiacha, Odus and Ochilo Ohayo, Okoth Ogwela.
Cousin of the late Dr. Godfrey Obwanga, Martin Oduson, Barrack Abunge, Joram Midaye, Dorcas Amolo, Otieno Kefa, Joshua Oguda, Peter Midaye, Ruth Opiacha and Capt. James Oloo.
The body lies at Chiromo Funeral Parlour. Further Prayer Meetings will be held on Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th at 5pm at St. Mark’s Church, Westlands.
There will be a funeral Service at St.Mark’s Church on 16th October at 2.30pm.
Sam will be laid to rest on 18th October in Usenge, West Yimbo, Bondo Sub-County, Siaya County.
