It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing on of Mama Rosbella Auma Odima on January 29, 2026, in Kisumu, following a brief illness.
Mama Rosbella, affectionately known as Nyobiero or Nyagochieng Bob, was the cherished wife of the late Caleb Odima, who was also married of the late Meresa, Joyce, and Maria.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Mathayo Obiero and Yunia Obiero from Alego Malunga. Mama Rosbella was a loving mother of Mary Olingo, Pamela Odima, Anne Odima, the late Janet Odero, Rodgers Otieno, the late George Odima, the late Susan Odima, Lillian Odima, Peter Odhiambo, the late Isaiah Oduor, Ronald Ngala, Aggrey Odima, Steven Odima, Evalyn Odima-Lewis, Judith Obilo, Truphosa Odima-Asiko, Anthony Odima, Lensa Odima-Warden, Bonfass Odima, Teresa Akongo Otieno, and Victoria Odima.
She leaves behind a remarkable legacy of over 52 grandchildren, including Maureen and Godwin Olingo, Emmanuel and Consolata Odero, Brian and Isabella Odima, John and Joshua Asiko, Lawrence and Marysa Odima, Johnathan Odima, George Lewis, Zara and Zoey Warden, Stephen and Meresa Otieno, Georgina Odima, Jeremiah Steven, Hazeline and Sarah Otieno, Laura and Joy Ngala, Gerald and Barbara Otieno, Harriet Otieno, and many more, along with more than 10 great-grandchildren.
Mama Rosbella was a cherished sister of the late Amellia Sewe, the late Joshua Ndolo, Frederick Mjimba, the late Pamela, James Odima, Monica Omenda, and Elsa Obiero.
She was also a treasured daughter-in-law of the late Stephen and Truphosa Opano of Gwassi, the late Paul Mara and Rosebella Ngaka of Alego Masumbi, the late Peter Okello and Getrude Okello of Tonga Village, and the late Agunda Nyang’oro and Anna of Alego Ulanda.
Her family also includes in-laws who preceded her, including Floyce Oneya, Dorina Obera, and Lukio Olingo Denga of Kano; Mama Consolata Pacho and Casmir Odumbe of Kochia; Mary Sewe and Fanuel Owino of Gem; as well as Isabella and Michael Odongo, among many others.
Her beloved sons-in-law include the late Shaad Olingo, Carilus Odero Odumbe, James Otieno, Daniel Asiko, George Obillo, John Otieno, Byron Lewis, and Lee Warden.
Her brothers-in-law are Cleopas, Mahalon, Oindi, and Zadock Sewe, while her sisters-in-law include Elizabeth and Drusila.
Mama Rosbella’s loving daughters-in-law are Gorety Odhiambo, Merilyn Odima, Deborah Otieno, Perusi Makorere, Vivian Ngala, Elizabeth Tony, and Nancy Owino.
She was a caring aunt of Jane Sewe, Mary Aoko, Peter Okolla, Mika, Obiero, Harriet, Sharon, the late Isaiah Opollo, Kennedy, June, Florence, and many others.
The funeral procession will depart from Kirindo Mortuary on March 11, 2026, for burial on the 12th at her Kogore home in Magunga, Gwassi.
