It is with deep sorrow and acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Robert K. arap Sitienei (Cheboryot), beloved brother, father, and grandfather.
He passed away on 5th February 2026 at the Eldoret Hospital, after a short illness, bravely borne.
Robert was born on 28th October, 1946 in Kabongwa Village, Nandi.
He was the third born and son of the late Peter Kibor arap Cheboryot (Kap Sinji) and Martina Chepsongol Abraham and step-son of Lucia Bot Arusei Cheboryot.
Robert grew up among a large family of many brothers and sisters, who included the late Anthony Kiplel Choge, the late Fr.George Kiptoo arap Cheboryot, Gabriel Tarus, Gilbert Bor, Charles Bor and Regina Kogo.
Others were the late Michael Kipyego Magut, the late Francis Choge, the late Paul Kimeli Bor, Mary Aiyobei Rotich, the late Philister Mang’eni, and Petrolina Jemaiyo Bor.
He was a loving husband of Monica Sitienei and proud father of James Cheboryot, John Cheboryot, Jacob Cheboryot, Abraham Cheboryot, Martina Chepkoross Sumbeiywo, Joan Cheptoo Marus, and Caroline Cherotich Kosgey.
He was father-in-law of the late Naomi Cheboryot, Mercy Anampiu-Cheboryot, Faith Cheboryot, Winnie Cheboryot, Jackson Sumbeiywo, Paul Marus, and Joseph Kosgey.
He was a hardworking farmer in Kapseret, a devout Christian, and a faithful servant of the St. George’s Sinendet Catholic Chaplaincy, Kapseret, in the Diocese of Eldoret, where he served in various leadership roles.
He was well-known for his strong faith, integrity, humility, and his strong commitment to family, church, and community.
Family and friends are meeting daily at his home in Kap Cheboryot, St. George’s, Kapseret for funeral plans.
A fundraiser is scheduled for Friday, 13th February 2026.
The cortege leaves Eldoret Hospital on Monday, 16th February at 10am.
The Requiem Mass will be held at St. George’s Sinendet Catholic Church between 11am and 4pm.
Thereafter, the casket will be taken for an overnight stay at his Kap Cheboryot Farm home.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 17th February, 2026 from 11am.
