It is with great sorrow, yet with acceptance of God’s will, that we announce the passing on of Mrs. Peninah Wanjiku Kinyara (Mwalimu) of Marenga Road, Kangemi / Mukoma Road, Karen, who rested in the Lord after a long and blessed life.
Beloved wife of the late Mr. Henry Kinyara Kinyua.
Mother of the late Rosemary Nyamwitha Mwangi and the late Pastor Moses Mwangi Maina; the late George Kinyua and Wendy Wanja; Gladys Njeri and (Hon.) Geoffrey King’ang’i; Catherine Wanjiru and Paul Kung’u Kimani; Eric and Lucy Wathoni Ngwiri; and Alex and Elizabeth Muthoni Karanja.
She was a loving grandmother of Peninah Wanjiku Kinyua, Henry Kinyara Kinyua, Hellen Muthoni, Rosemary Nyamwitha, Andrew Maina, Dr. Lorna Wamuyu, Andrew Mugane, Wendo Kibugi, Henry Wainaina, Kimani & Wairimu Kung’u, Emma Wambui Ngwiri, Peninah Wanjiku Ngwiri, Henry Kinyara Ngwiri, Jonney Ngwiri, Eli and Zoe Karanja.
She was sister of Margaret Nduta Ngwiri and was preceded in death by her siblings Nelly Waithera, Obadiah Thiong’o, Milkah Ndeki, Simon Njoroge, Andrew Thande, and Anthony Njihia.
She leaves behind 10 great grandchildren.
She was sister-in-law of Simon Gakuru and Mary Wanjiru, the late: Evanson Karanja, Brown Muturi, and Paul Thiong’o.
She will be dearly missed and remembered for her unwavering faith, generosity, and service to the community.
Family and friends are meeting daily at 4:00 p.m. at her home off Mukoma Road, Karen, for prayers and funeral arrangements.
The cortege will leave Lee Funeral Home on Wednesday, 24th September 2025, at 8:00 a.m. for a funeral service at ACK St. Matthew’s Church, Hardy, Karen, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the burial at the funeral burial site in Gitoka, Kangemi Village, Nairobi County.
