The Goto family regrets to announce the sudden passing away of Paul Samson Goto Gene on 1 March 2026.
Paul Gene Goto was the beloved husband of the late Charity Wangari Goto.
Loving father of Peter Gene Goto and Sylvia Mwago, Andrew Gichui Goto and Anne Mitaru, Joshua Boru Goto and Makena Mworia and Moses Mwangi Goto and Priscila Muindi.
As an Akaku, he cherished his grandchildren, Elema Wangari Gene, Kiya Goto Boru, and Hisani Wangari Goto.
Muthoni wa and friend of Charles and Irene Mwago, Prof. Barnabas and Hon. Rose Mitaru, the late Gideon Mworia and Amb. Kalimi Mworia and their families.
Son of the late Samson Gene and the late Ruth Halaku, and son- in-law of the late Edmund Gichui and the late Beth Nyambura.
Paul was loved dearly by his siblings Dime and Daigo Hirbo, late Susana Iyalu, Rhoda Gene, Joshua and Anne Gene, Julia and the late Abdullahi Gubo, late Mary Gene, Sara Gene and Dalila Gene.
He was also brother-in-law of David Mwangi and Irene Ng’endo, the late Lawrence Maina, Duncan Ndegwa and Anna Wayua, and Isaac Kariuki.
A celebration of life service will be held at ACK St. Peter’s Cathedral Marsabit on Saturday 7th March 2026, and he will be laid to rest at his home in Saku, Marsabit.
Paul Goto Gene (PSG), a historian, a teacher, an administrator, a banker, and respected pillar in the Burji community, leaves behind a rich legacy of service to his country.
In life he cared deeply for his family in Marsabit, Nairobi, Kilicho-Ethiopia, Nyeri, and friends around the world.
A father to many, through the years countless stories will be told of how our beloved Paul Goto Gene led, guided, and mentored with wisdom and compassion. He will be dearly missed
