It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the demise of Mzee Naftali Njeru Waithanje which occurred on Thursday the 4th September 2025 after a long illness.
Naftali was the beloved son of the late Shadrack Waithanje and the late Eunice Karimi.
He was the loving husband of Jelia Ciumwari.
He was the devoted father of Margaret Muthoni, Eunice Wanja and Mureithi Kibe, Antony Muriithi and Mary Kiende, Susan Muthanje and Moffat Kariuki, Rose Njoki, John Ndwiga and Wangui Githinji and Anderson Gitonga.
He was the dear brother of Gladwell, the late Daniel, Esther, Zabedi, Agatha, the late Jeridia, Harry Karugu and Muriuki.
He was the loving grandfather of Kevin Murithi, Arnold Mutugi, Tony Munene, Daniel Kibe, Dr. Eric Ngare, Thomas Kibe, Grace Kibe, Gloria Kinya, Brenda Wawira, Jayden Munene, Stacy Nyakio, Melany Wendo, Kelsey Katheu, Kylan Njeru, Fernandes Njeru, Vernice Nyaguthie and Jean Pendo.
He was a great grandfather to many.
Naftali was an uncle, cousin, friend, relative and mentor to many. He will be fondly remembered for his generosity, his unwavering love for his family and dedicated service to the church and the community.
Family and friends are meeting daily from 4.00pm for prayers and funeral arrangements at his home in Gitare Village, Embu-East Sub-County, Embu County.
The cortege will leave Gakwegori Funeral Home on Saturday 13th September 2025 at 8.00am for the funeral service at Gitare Primary School.
Thereafter, he will be laid to rest at his home in Gitare Village.
