It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of our cherished matriarch, Mama Jerusa Obare, of Matutu Settlement Scheme, Amakara, Nyamira County. She passed away in the United States of America on March 4, 2026.
She was the beloved wife of the late Hon. Evans Obare Omani, formerly of Mwa Obare Hotel, Nairobi, and Mwalimu Hotel, Kisii.
She was the loving mother of the late Samuel Obare, Jemimah Ongwenyi, Yabbes Omani, Flora Omani, George Omani, Pamela Omani, and Tom Omani.
Daughter of the late Saul Otieri and the late Milka Otieri. Daughter-in-law of the late Petro Omani and the late Luthia Omani.
Sister of the late Ongera, the late Migosi, Mary, Hellena, David, Peris, Stephen, and the late Bundi, all of Gesiaga.
Sister-in-law of the late Magoma, the late Nyaigoti, the late Monyagi, the late Nyamweya, the late Mary, Nyabonyi, and the late Makori.
Mother-in-law of Janet Mayani, Swalah Omani, Janet Omani, and Dolores Obare.
Grandmother of Jerusa; Ashley and Geoffrey; Isaac and Carla, Vanessa, and Rose Omani; Mariam; Obare and Mariam; Obegi and Rukia; Makori Omani; Moraa Onyonka and Evance Martin; Bonareri and Toli; Obare and Vanessa; Louisa Omani; Ivy and Ian Mong’are; Mocheche; Sarange; and Nyaboke Mayani.
Great-Grandmother of Jett, Amada, and Rome; Abdullah, Swalah, Salma, and Haysam; Kingsley and Jack; and Thea.
She was also a beloved cousin, aunt, and friend to many.
Family and friends will meet for prayers and funeral arrangements at All Saints Cathedral on 19th and 20th March from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
A fundraiser will be held at Nairobi Central Church on 23rd March 2026 starting at 4:00 PM.
