It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Major (Rtd) Imaana Laibuta which occurred on 16th October, 2025.
Major Laibuta was born on 12th December, 1963 at Lubuathirua Village, Muthara Location, Tigania, Meru County.
He was the son of the late Mzee Isaiah M’Imaana M’Laibuta (Naana) and Rael Karei (Kaake) and the step-son of the late Mama Nyeera.
Major was the husband of Kathambi Laibuta, and the father of Rita Nkatha Laibuta, Kimathi Laibuta, and Akim Laibuta.
He was also the husband of the late Faith Kagwiria Kirigia, mother of Rita and Kimathi.
He was the brother of Dr Nkule Laibuta, Justice Dr. Kibaya Imaana Laibuta, Mrs Mercy Nkirote Mweti, Mrs Tabitha Nkoyai Maithima, Amb. Kaume Laibuta, Joel Kailibi Laibuta, late Misheck Kailanya Laibuta, Henry Kaberia Laibuta, Karimi Laibuta and Patrick Mwenda Laibuta.
Brother-in-law of Agnes Laibuta, Mweti Thumatia, Ezra Maithima Kithiaya, Elosy Wanja Laibuta, Jane Laibuta, Ruth Kinya Kaberia and Nkatha Laibuta.
Uncle of Antony Mugambi Laibuta, Carol Muthoni, Mwonjaru Mweti, Thuranira Mweti, Muriuki Mweti, Munene Mweti, Eric Kimathi Maithima, Ken Mwiti Maithima, Betty Kananu Maithima,Valyne Kinya Laibuta, Liliana Naiserian Laibuta, Murithi Laibuta, Kawira Laibuta, Kanana Laibuta, Sandra Karimi Laibuta, Keith Murithi Laibuta, Mwendwa Laibuta, Muthomi Laibuta, Mutembei Laibuta, Gitonga Laibuta, Mukiri Laibuta, Mutugi Mwenda, Mark Imaana Laibuta and Alexander Bariu Laibuta (both in Slovenia).
Grandfather of Kalilah Kagwiria Laibuta, Nina Naita Laibuta, Ryan Muthomi Kimathi, Immanuel Muriuki, Seth Muriuki, Abigail Muriuki, Esther Muriuki, Jade Kamathi Muriithi.
The memorial service will be held at Saint Andrews on Wednesday 22nd, from 5:30 pm.
Family and friends are meeting daily at their home in Amani Court, Utawala, Embakasi.
The cortege will leave Memorial Hospital Mashujaa Mortuary in Nairobi on Friday, 24th October, 2025 at 9.00 am.
He will be laid to rest at his home on Saturday, 25th October, in Lubuathirua Village, Muthara Location, Tigania, Meru County.
