It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of our beloved Joseph Gichia Kungu, formerly of Nairobi City Council, Water and Sewerage Department.
He was the son of the late Beacher Kungu Gichia and the late Priscilla Wambui Kungu. Beloved husband of Rachel Nyambura Gichia.
Father of Christine Wambui Gichia (USA), Beacher Kungu Gichia (Australia) and Martin Kimani Gichia and grandfather of Jasmine Nyambura Kimani, Arya Nyambura Kungu and Jacob Gichia Kungu.
He is also survived by his eight siblings Francis Mwaura, the late Paul Macharia, Peter Ngugi, Richard Njoroge, Mary Wakanyi, James Kinyanjui, Samuel Wainaina, Step-brother of the late Hannah Wanjiku Kungu, Martha Gathoni Muiruri among others. Guka, uncle and cousin to many.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday 27th January 2026 at 2.00pm at ACK Church, Good Samaritan, Komarock.
Family and friends are meeting daily at his home, for prayers and burial arrangements as from 6.00pm.
The cortège leaves Kenyatta University Funeral Home (along Thika road) at 8.00am on Thursday 29th January 2026 for a funeral service at ACK church at Igegania, Mangu, Gatundu North.
Thereafter burial will take place at 2.00pm at the family home in Igegania, Mangu, Gatundu North.
