It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we the Board of Directors of Pelican Insurance Brokers (K) Limited announce the sudden passing on to glory of our Chairman Mr. James Njenga Mungai which occurred on 30th December 2025 after a short illness.
Mr. Mungai joined the company in 1983 as the Financial Director, then Vice Chairman in 2012, and was serving as the Chairman from 2022 until the date of his demise.
Son of the Late John Mungai Kabage and the Late Jane Waithera Mungai. Loving husband of Grace Wanjira Mungai.
Loving Father of Jane Waithera Mungai, John Mungai Njenga,Anne Mungai Thairu, Cynthia Mungai Kihara and Lisa Meho.
Father-in-law of Wangari Mungai, George Thairu Kamau and James Mwangi Kihara.
Dotting Grandfather of Kevin James Mungai, Sammy Kyle Chifallu, Jonathan Kamau Thairu, James Njenga Thairu, Jayden Jamil Meho, Hayley Nadine Meho, Gracie Wanjira Mungai, Dylan Ndungu Kamau, Katelyn Wamaitha, Hope Wanjira, Jason Martin Thairu, Jibril Meho, Nahla Gow and Matthew Njenga Mwangi.
Brother of the Late Francis Miringu Mungai, the Late APK Mungai, the Late David Nganga Mungai, Agnes Wanjiru Njoroge, the Late George Nyaga Mungai and Elizabeth Muthoni Mungai.
Son-in-law of the Late Peter Mathagu Njagi and the Late Jane Muthoni Njagi. Brother-in-law law of Patrick Gichobi and Wanjiru Gichobi, the Late Patrick Njeru and Loise Nduta Njeru and Florence Kuthii Njagi. Loving Uncle, cousin and friend to many.
There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church tomorrow 7th January 2026 at 10:00 a.m followed by internment at the family’s farm in Kiambaa, Kiambu County.
While being very grateful for Mr. Mungai’s wise guidance and dedication during his time with us, we as the Board and all members of staff condole with the family during this period and pray that eternal rest be upon him. May he rest in peace.
