It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Eng. Charles Ngugi Gathara, Deputy Director, Water and Sanitation, Nairobi City County Government.
He was a devoted husband of Mercy Wambeti Muriithi and a loving father of Mary Kanana Ngugi, Christine Njeri, and Morgan Gathara.
He was the cherished son of James Gathara Kiriu and Lucy Njeri Gathara, and a beloved brother of George Macharia, the late Martin Mvoria, and Vincent Kariuki Gathara.
Eng. Gathara passed away on 16th February 2026 at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport while awaiting his flight for an official assignment.
The burial will be held on Friday, 27th February 2026, at Gatondo Village, Embu County.
The cortege will leave Gakwegori Funeral Home at 8:30 a.m. for his home.
He will be remembered for his dedication, integrity, and selfless service.
