It is with great sadness and acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Elijah Agnew Mbwavi which occurred on the 6th of March 2026 while undergoing treatment in Dakar, Senegal.
He was the son of Alexander Muhati Wituka and the late Rhoda Imbakala Muhati.
Agnew was husband of Kibibi Maia Thomas Mbwavi, a father of Christabel Musanga, Shirlin Shamola, Aaron Amani Mbwavi and Udia Jalele Mbwavi; and a grandfather of two.
Brother of Dr Linet Imbosa Muhati-Nyakundi, Caleb Wituka, Margaret Atsango, Patrick Matika, Miller Muhati, Mitrine Musanga and Joshua Makutu.
Brother-in-law of Richard Nyakundi Rori, Prof. Alfred Talukhaba, Dorah Kisiang’ani, Joan Ondulo and Dorothy Kirianki.
He was an uncle of Eric, Jackline, Sheila, Collins, Clement, Valentine, Irene, Rodney, Pearl, Cecilia, Sky-Parsley, Linkerson, John,Alice, Anderson, Natasha, Myles, Maylin and Elvis.
Nephew of the late Eliezer Likhaya, Manoah Wituka, Jacob Wituka, Reuben Wituka, Frindan Mugaisi Buyakane, the late Salim Masyongo, Benayo Masyongo, Maurice Shiluli and a cousin to many.
The cortege will leave Kakamega Funeral Parlor on 20th March 2026 for overnight vigil at his ancestral home in Rosterman village, Kakamega County.
Burial will take place on 21st March 2026 in Rosterman Village.
