It is with profound sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the promotion to glory of Dr Basilio Gichobi Mungania, of University of Nairobi, which occurred on 19th February 2026, after a long illness bravely borne.
Basilio was the beloved husband of Lillian Kanorio Gichobi and a loving father of Carol Karimi & Joseph Njenga, Anthony Kimathi & Kevin Muriungi.
He was an adored grandfather of Lisa Wanjiku, Ian Karumbi, Nina Gacheri, Kimberly Wairimu, Kyle Gichobi & Zani Muriithi Son of the late Henry Mungania and the late Anania Maiti.
Brother of John & Mercy Meru, Beddha & Asenath Kaaria, Aurelia Nyoroka, Belina Mwari, Patricia Kanini, Chrispo & Lucy Mpungu, Ephrahim & Janice Mbaabu.
He was a cherished cousin, uncle and friend to many.
To celebrate his life and legacy, family and friends will meet on Monday 23rd at Public Service Club Upper Hill at 6pm (main hall).
A requeim mass will be held on Wednesday 25th February at St. Paul’s University Chapel at 11am.
The cortege will leave Chiromo Funeral Home on Thursday, 26th February 2026 at 6am, for a funeral service and burial at St. Jude Catholic Church Igoji in Meru at 10am.
