DAIRE SEAN O’REILLY

DAIRE SEAN O’REILLY

Daire Sean O’Reilly (formerly of Nairobi, Kenya and Dublin, Ireland) passed away peacefully in Dublin on 20 February 2026 after an unflinching battle with cancer.

From the moment of his birth in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Daire was — and will always remain — fiercely loved.

Stories of his adventures might astonish the uninitiated, but to those fortunate enough to have been Daire-adjacent, they are a source of enduring laughter and joy.

Brilliant, irreverent, and impossibly well read, Daire possessed razor-sharp wit and comedic timing that could dissolve tension in any room — along with egos, hearts, and bad attitudes.

He had no patience for pomp or pretence, yet cared deeply about manners, loyalty, and showing up for those he loved.

He read everything, remembered everything, and corrected everything — often before you finished your sentence.

If he teased you, it was because he loved you.

A lifelong lover of the game of golf, Daire found in it outright joy and raging fury in equal measure.

He celebrated the sport, fought the tucked-shirt rule, and owned the 19th hole.

He was a proud junior member of Limuru Country Club, a former member of Vet Lab Sports Club, and a member of Nyali Golf Club.

Kenya was home to Daire, even as he remained unmistakably a son of Ireland.

He is predeceased by his beloved mother, Cleo. He leaves behind his father Vincent; sister Sorcha; niece Penny; nephew Dan; brother-in-law Barry; loving family; the members of the By The Way Golf Tour; and devoted friends who will carry his laughter forward
