It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of James Waliaula Wekunda, KCB, Kilgoris Branch, which occurred on 20th June 2026 at MP-SHAH Hospital, Nairobi, after a short illness.

Beloved husband of Noreen Nipher Aleo Omoto (KCB), and devoted father of Amari Muyalah Wekunda and Taji Aila Wekunda, whom he cherished deeply and loved unconditionally.

He was a loving son of Joseph Muyalah Wekunda and Esnas Wekunda.

Son-in-law of Benstram Aila Omoto and Lydia Omoto. He was a loving brother of Philip and RaShelle Wekunda, Micheal and Ruth Wekunda, Manasseh and Diana Wekundah, Anne and Martin Ratemo, Ruth and Charles Muriuki and the late Whitney and Bramwel Wakachunga. He was the brother-in-law of Dennis Omoto, Oscar Omoto and Miriam Omoto.

Uncle of Michelle, Ajani, Nakami, Ruby, Azariah, Zeyden, Zuri, Makena, Ethan, Jesse, Paul, Adrian, Nadine, Elsie, Neema, Pendo, Abe, Ava and many others. A cherished nephew of Festus Wasilwa, John Nandasaba, Joyce Mdegwa, Nyongesa Namulala, Margaret Wanyonyi, Zipporah Musungu, and Roseline Barasa. He was a loved cousin, uncle and kuka of many.

Family and friends are meeting daily in Nairobi and his Kisumu residence for prayers and funeral arrangements.

The cortege leaves Montezuma funeral home Nairobi on 3rd July 2026 for a memorial service at Life Celebration Ministry, Kisumu followed by burial at Kaptanai, Bungoma County on 4th July 2026.
