It is with profound sadness and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of our beloved Susan Njeri Kigera (Sue).
Susan was the beloved daughter of the late James Kigera Thiong’o and Edith Wambui Kigera. She was the loving mother of Ruby Nkatha Mutuma (Jonathan Gloag Academy).
She was the dear sister of Dr. Stephen Thiong’o Kigera (MEDS & EPN) and Charity Taburandi Kigera (KRA); sister-in-love of Grace Krista Thiong’o; and a doting auntie of Kylie, Chloe, Priscilla, Phoebe and Michael.
She was a cherished granddaughter of the late Stephen Thiong’o Kigera and the late Charity Taprandich Thiong’o; and the late Jonah Ng’ang’a and the late Felister Njeri.
She was a niece of the late John Kipruto, the late Leah Nyakinyua, the late Mary Wakonyo, the late Mercy Njeri, Nancy Ndurumo, Lucy Wanjiku, Irene Wahu, Rebecca Njeri, Ann Wambui, William Wairachu, Evans Chege (USA), Margaret Nduta (USA), James Karanja and Mary Waithera.
Susan was also a beloved auntie, cousin, friend, neighbour and colleague to many.
Family and friends are gathering daily at the family home in Kibiku Farm, Mhango’o Ward, Embakasi East, for prayers and funeral arrangements.
The Requiem Service will be held on Friday, 10th July 2026, at St. Peter’s Methodist Church, Onyonka Estate, Lang’ata, from 11:00 a.m.
The burial will take place on Tuesday, 14th July 2026, at the family home in Kibiku Farm, Mhango’o Ward, Embakasi East.
On the burial day, the cortege will leave Lee Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service at St. Peter’s Methodist Church, Lang’ata, and thereafter interment at the family home.
We thank God for the gift of Susan’s life, her love, warmth, resilience and the precious memories she leaves behind.
