It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Alfred Peter Anyara Etyang, which occurred on Tuesday, 2nd June 2026, through a tragic road accident along Bungoma – Malaba Road.
He was a beloved son of the late Emmanuel Anyara Ekakoro and the late Demiteria Amukulot.
He was a loving husband of Teresa Etyang Ogallo, and a devoted father of the late Ann Etyang, Dr. Oita Etyang (COMESA), James Collins Papa Etyang (SACC), Gabriel Etyang (Horn of Africa Youth Network) and Anthony Etyang Anyara (SYN-K). Father-in-law of Emma Aja, Faith Amoding’, Lydia Idedei and Faith Amusolo.
He was a cherished brother-in-law of the Ogallos, and a proud grandfather of Mike Opollo, Che Anyara, Ian Baraka, Sankara Oita Etyang, Ayden Anyara, Toivo Etyang, Zuri Papa, Tunu Papa, Nuru Papa, Gianna Okisai, Tendai Amoit, Gawin Okisai, Alma Terry and Neema Amai.
Great grandfather of Henry Opollo.
Alfred was a dear brother of retired High Court Judge Mathew Emukule, retired diplomat Levy Emurugat, Elizabeth Anyakorit, Julita Amoit, Mercy Alung’at, Clement Aura Omwatok, Rose Ajah, Dr. Luka Ekisa Anyara, Givinal Papa, the late Marko Ekakoro, Mourice Ekakoro and Cornel Ekisa.
He was a beloved uncle of The Sangitas, The Angelas, The Julitas, The Sokonis, The Alungats, The Ajaas and many more.
The cortege leaves Delight Funeral Home, Bungoma on 19th June 2026 for and a vigil at Atamaujo ka Etyang –Akudiet village – Kapina.
The burial ceremony will take place on 20 th June 2026 in Busia County, Kadiet village – Kapina.
