It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Mama Doreen Aribeta Oyugi, wife of the late Hezekiah Nelson Oyugi and mother of George Nelson Ogango, which occurred on Thursday, 4 June 2026, after a period of illness.
She was co-wife of Mama Mary Oyugi and the late Mama Betty Oyugi, and step-mother of Rose Oyugi, Job Oyugi, Douglas Oyugi, Arthur Oyugi, Dr. Christine Opundo, Christopher Oyugi, David Oyugi among others.
She was sister of the late John Amenya Akedde, the late Meshack Amayo Akedde, the late Isdora Ondiek, and Retired Senior Chief Benson Owuor Akedde.
She was a loving aunt of George Ondiek, Jacob Kwanya, Philip Ayomo, Amos Amenya, the late Dr. Hulda Amenya, Beatrice Akinyi, Dorcas Amayo, Samuel Amayo, Martin Amayo, Catherine Amayo, Miriam Atieno, Benard Ochola, Joseph Abonyo, Phoebe Bernstein, Thatcher Owuor, David Okiki, Harun Opiyo, Harun Odongo, Philip Ochola and Maureen Akinyi, among others.
She was sister-in-law of Mrs Rebecca Atyang, Doris Alela, former DC Joshua Ogango, Mrs Grace Malambo, Lucy Ayodo, David “Dani” Ogango, Damaris Odero, the late Councillor Simon Were, Mrs Elizabeth Okello (of LIMODA Fashions), Eng. John Ogango, Ken Ogango, Moses Ogango (USA), Marren Mboya, Richard Otieno (UK), former Councillor Erastus Ogoya Ogango, among others.
The cortege will leave Avenue Hospital Kisumu Mortuary on Thursday, 18 June 2026 at 9:00 a.m. for the Oyugi home in Dudu Village, Rakwaro.
Burial will take place on Friday, 19 June 2026 at the Oyugi family home in Dudu Village, Rakwaro, Migori County.
