It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Babu Allan Kanyottu, fondly known as B.A. Kanyottu, on 19th February 2026 after a short illness.
B.A. was a renowned music producer and iconic visionary behind Studio Sawa Sound. He was the loving husband of the late Dr. Mary Wangeci Kanyottu.
He was the son of the late Fredrick Babu Chege, the late Phyllis Wangui and the late Joyce Njoki, and son-in-law of the late Hiram and the late Martha Kirathe.
He was brother of Rachel & John Kairu, Edith & the late Mbuthia, James Chege, Njeri & Muraya, Wanjiru & Muthui, Wairimu & Dr.Kiragu, Wachera & Thuku, and Nyambura & Mugo (Babus).
Brother-in-law of Alice, Jane, the late Waweru, the late Kamande, Irene, the late Irungu, Kimani, Wangari and Githaiga (Kirathes).
Loving father of Mark Babu; Lee & Njeri; Kevin & Wanjiku; Kui & Kariuki; and father-figure of Patrick Maina & Bree Wangechi.
An awesome grandfather of Kenia, Mutana Kanyottu, Muthaka, Kiante Kanyottu, Kemi, Wema, Taji and Ayden Kanyottu.
Family and friends will meet on Monday, 23rd February for a fundraiser at All Saints Cathedral from 5:30pm and for a celebration service on Thursday, 26th February from 10:00am at ACK St. Francis Church, Karen.
