It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Esther Nyambura Mwangi which occurred on 17 February 2026.
She was the daughter of the late John Gachau Wainaina and the late Hannah Wambui Gachau.
Esther was the beloved wife of Moses Mwangi Gakuo. She was the mother of Gladys Njeri Muchiri, Martin Irungu Mwangi and Beatrice Waruinu Irungu, Gachau Mwangi and Gathungu Mwangi and Brenda Warigia Gathungu.
She was grandmother of Nyambura Irungu, Nyambura Gathungu, Gathumbi Irungu and many others.
Sister of Eric Wainaina, Bishop Johnson Gachau, Gladys Wanjiru, the late Nelly Waruchu, the late Simon Mugo, Rahab Ngina and Patrick Njenga.
Sister-in-law of Mary Maina, the Late Peter Gathungu, Julia Warirah,Wallace Gakuo, Benjamin Gakuo, Alice Irungu, Edward Gakuo, Nelly Wainaina, Mercy Karongoh and Jane Njenga. She was a cousin and aunty to many.
Family and friends are meeting daily at her residence in Kimathi Estate House Number C9 from 6pm.
The cortege leaves Kenyatta University Teaching Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) on Friday 27 February 2026 for a requiem service at the P.C.E.A Bahati Martyrs Church from 10.00 am and thereafter interment at the Lang’ata Cemetery on the same day.
