
With love and humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing of George Omondi Nombi, also known as Otiso. He went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, after a short illness.
George served faithfully in public service under several government ministries, including the Ministry of East African Community, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Interior and Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Youth and Gender.
His final place of service before his passing was the State Department for Children Services under the Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services.
He was the son of the late Octavianus Nombi and the late Caren Nombi, and step son to the late Angelina Nombi of Kanyada, Rabuor Masawa.
He was the beloved husband of the late Wilkister Awuor.
He is survived by two children,Tay Gavin and Keyla Ladasha.
He was the son in law of Rev. Churchill Otieno and Benter Atieno of Nyakach.
He was a loving brother of Anthony Nombi, Paul Nombi, Mary Pande, the late Eunice Nombi, Fred Nombi, Michael Nombi, Lucy Nombi, the late Peter Onyango, Ben Nombi, Erick Nombi, and Silas Nombi.
He was a cherished brother in law, uncle, and a strong pillar of his extended family.
The requiem mass will be held on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, at 2.00 pm at the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians, Don Bosco Upper Hill.
Burial will take place on Friday, 13 February 2026, at his home in Pap Ndege, Homa Bay County.
