It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of Samwel Onyango Otieno (Asam), a Director at Ukwala Freights Forwarders Limited and a former Councillor of North Ugenya Ward, Siaya County.
He passed away after a short illness on 30th January 2026 at Metropolitan Hospital.
Samwel Onyango Otieno was born in Kondiek Village, Sega Sub-location, Ugenya Division, in Siaya County to the late Francis Otieno and the late Maria Akello.
He was the beloved husband of Monica Awuor Onyango of Siaya County. Father of Chrispine, Irene, the late Erastus, Lillian, Peter and Celestine.
Grandfather of Kayla, Maximilian, Ivan, Eunah, Liam, Elvis and Sherry.
He was the brother of Peter, John, the late Adhiambo, the late Akoth, the late Apiyo, the late Adongo, Duncan, the late Lucas, the late Mary, Joseph, Mras, Ajwang, Elizabeth, the late Agolla, the late Roselyne, the late Colletta, Elias, Thomas, the late Julius, Martin, Isaiah, Elijah, Priscillah, David, Lawrence, Dorine and Moses
He was a father-in-law of Grace Achieng, Dimitri Enns, Brian Ochola and Sandra Santeiyan. He was a son-in-law of the late Peter Ogony & the late Rosalia Alila.
Celebration of life, meeting and condoling with the family will be at St. Josephine Bakhita Catholic Church Lucky Summer on Thursday, 12th February 2026, at 2:00pm.
The cortege will depart from Kenyatta University Referral Funeral Home for a memorial service at Sega Catholic Churchat 3.00pm on 13th February 2026.
The burial Service will be held on 14th February 2026 at his home in Ugenya, Sega starting at 10.00am
