
It is with profound sorrow that the family of Jokanyonyango announces the passing of the late Dolphine Achieng Ochere on January 30, 2026.
The late Dolphine formerly served as a dedicated teacher for many years and left as a Headteacher. She later served with distinction in the Homa Bay County Government as Chief Officer, Education, Vocational Training & Human Capital; and Chief Officer, Gender Inclusivity & Women Empowerment.
She was the beloved wife of Tom Owiti Opapa. Daughter of Senior Retired Chief Samwel Aluoch Ochere and Mama Jane Ochere, and daughter-in-law of the late Cardinal Joseph Opapa Odoro, Jane Opapa, and Mama Esther Opapa.
Dolphine was a devoted mother of Steve & Cecilia, Ian, Mendel, and Genevieve.
Family and friends meet daily at her Nairobi home at Hilltop Court in Sabaki Estate.There will be fundraising on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at her Sabaki home from 2.00pm to help with medical bills and funeral expenses.
Cortege leaves Umash Funeral Home on Thursday, February 12, 2026 for an overnight vigil at her home in Kibiri, Samanga.
The burial will take place on Friday, February 13, 2026 at her home in Samanga, Kawadhgone Sub-location, Kibiri Ward, Rachuonyo North Sub- County, Homa Bay County.
