It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Mwalimu Lucy Mutai formerly of Kericho Day and Matobo Secondary schools, wife of former principal Ernest Mutai which occurred on Friday, 2nd October 2026, after a courageous year-long battle with brain cancer.
Lucy was born on 27th September 1960, the fourth child of the late Hon. Richard Maritim and the late Sofia Maritim of Chepteroror village, Belgut Constituency, Kericho County. She was sister of Jane Chemugei, the late Rose Ng’etch, Joyce Maritim, Eric Rop, Margaret Mutai, Raymond Rop, Kenneth Rop and Nicholas Rop.
The funeral procession and memorial service will take place on Friday, 9th October, followed by the funeral service and burial on Saturday, 10th October 2026 at Kapusaro AGC and the family home.
