Beloved wife of Dr. Ronald Gaita Maathai of Mount Kenya University. Loving mother of Sharon Wangari Gaita (Oscar Otieno and Co-Advocates) and Jeff Maathai Gaita (of Kenya Airways).
Daughter of the late Charles Ngathuri and the late Penina Wangeci. Daughter-in-law of the late Naphtali Maathai and the late Shelmith Wangari Maathai.
The cortege will depart from the Kenyatta Teaching and Referral Hospital Funeral Home on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 7:00 a.m.
The funeral service will be held at the grounds of Thageini Primary School in Tetu, Nyeri, followed by the burial at her home in Karo Village, Ithekahuno Sub-Location.
